Born in Reims, Miguel da Silva began his studies there at a very young age before joining the CNSM in Paris where he was Serge Collot’s student. He was unanimously awarded the 1st prize for chamber music and the viola prize. A founding member of the Ysaÿe quartet, he led a rich career as a quartet player from 1987 to 2014, with numerous awards. Miguel da Silva has also been the guest soloist of many orchestras. Alongside this intense solo activity, the pedagogical imperative quickly imposed itself on him. Today, he teaches at the HEM in Geneva, and is regularly invited by the largest educational institutions in Europe.
