Sergei Krylov was born in Moscow in 1970. Being a part of a family of musicians, he began studying the violin at an early age and proved to be a gifted and fast-learning student. In 1988, at only 18, he won first prize in the Rodolfo Lipizer competition in Gorizia, which opened the door to many new opportunities. However, his career was truly launched when he won first prize in the Stradivari competition in Cremona in 1998 and first prize in the Fritz Kreisler competition in Vienna in 2000.
Since then Sergei Krylov has performed on the most prestigious stages, including the Musikverein and Konzerthaus in Vienna, Suntory Hall in Tokyo and Teatro alla Scala in Milan. He has also performed with the many of the finest orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, the English Chamber Orchestra, the St Petersburg Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra and the Dresden Staatskapelle to name a few.
Sergei Krylov is also keen to pass on his extensive musical knowledge, and for the past few years has been pursuing a parallel career as a teacher. Since 2012, he has taught at the Haute Ecole de Musique in Lugano, Switzerland.
