Maria Ioudenitch, 25, wins the 57nd Tibor Varga Competition
We are pleased to present you the winners of the 2021 edition of the Tibor Varga International Violin Competition, which ended on September 4 in Sion:
First Prize: Maria Ioudenitch (25 years, American)
Second Prize: Tassilo Probst (19 years, German)
Third Prize: Lorenz Karls (20 years, Swedish)

As a result of the exceptional level, the Jury awarded threeFourth Prizes to:
Ava Bahari (24 years, Sweden)
Seira Horiuchi (25 years, Japan)
Arthur Traelnes (18 years, Switzerland).

Tibor Varga Prize: Lorenz Karls (20 years, Sweden) – for his performance of the compulsory work Stilleven commissioned from the French composer Michel Petrossian
A total of 25 young violinists under the age of 26 participated in the Competition, which this year recorded a record participation (124 entries) with a32% increase over the 2019 edition. All rounds were livestreamed in collaboration with The Violin Channel. Channel 9 broadcast live both nights of the Finals on September 2 and 4.
