Born in Touraine into a family of farmers, Catherine Germain studied at La Rue Blanche (Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Arts et Techniques du Théâtre). It is there in 1986 that she met François Cervantes, who founded the company l’Entreprise in the same year. United by a vision for theatre that incorporates elements from other artistic practices, Catherine Germain and François Cervantes went on to collaborate regularly, with Catherine performing in most L’Entreprise productions. This long-term partnership also produced ample in-depth research into the work of the actor, notably into the art of performing as a clown.
Catherine Germain has taught at the Centre National des Arts du Cirque de Chalons in Champagne for several years and, additionally, teaches classes at numerous other acting schools and conservatories. She also leads training courses and workshops for professional and amateur actors.
