Bulgarian Svetlin Roussev began his training at a very young age with his mother, before joining the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris in 1991, in the classes of Gérard Poulet, Devy Erlih and Jean-Jacques Kantorow. He graduated in 1994 with a first prize in violin, with honours from the jury, as well as a first prize in chamber music. Winner of numerous international competitions, he has won the first Grand Prize, the Audience Prize and the Special Prize for the best interpretation of Bach’s Concerto at the Sendai International Music Competition (Japan), among others.
A soloist in high demand, Svetlin Roussev has performed in numerous world-renowned concert halls such as Salle Pleyel, Alte Oper in Frankfurt, Suntory Hall in Tokyo and Bolshoi in Moscow, under the baton of eminent conductors including Myung-Whun Chung, Léon Fleisher, Yehudi Menuhin and Emil Tabakov.
Passionate about the world of orchestra, Svetlin Roussev was for a long time the concertmaster of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France and of the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra before being appointed concertmaster of the OSR.
Svetlin Roussev is a fine teacher and professor at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. He plays a stradivarius « Camposelice » from 1710, loaned by the Nippon Music Foundation.
