At the age of 10, violinist Svetlana Makarova won first prize in the Moscow International Youth Tchaikovsky Competition, a distinction that was soon followed by the receipt of numerous other prestigious awards and prizes. Upon the successful completion of her studies, she went on to work with the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra and the Orchestra Palau de Valencia.
